My son was diagnosed first. Then me.
His ADHD diagnosis came first — right when he started school. Mine followed not long after. Suddenly I was searching for tools twice over: something for him, something for me, something for both of us to actually get through a day.
Here's the annoying part: I already know the tools. I've read the books, I know the tricks, I could recite the strategies in my sleep. But in the actual moment I need them — mid-meltdown, mid-freeze, mid-"why can't I just start" — my brain just doesn't hand them to me.
So I started making cards. Something physical, right there, that doesn't ask me to remember it exists. It was just supposed to be a little hack for our family. Turns out it works for a lot of other popcorn brains too.
I know every tool in the book. I just forget them at the exact moment I need them — that's the whole reason these cards exist.
